COEHD candidates, and indeed the unit as a whole is assessed and ultimately accredited on the basis of a newly revised conceptual framework, and in alignment with its designated outcomes, the COEHD endeavors to prepare educators by providing learning opportunities that are conducive to the development on a “Responsive Educator”- one that embodies and demonstrates four outcomes- a knowledgeable response, a skillful response, a committed response, and a professional response.

The self study and accreditation process serve the ultimate aim of the JSU COEHD which is to positively impact the full range of P12 students. To this end, the following goals are adopted in order to equip completers who are qualified to:

  • Demonstrate leadership
  • Foster learning
  • Facilitate collaboration
  • Nurture diversity
  • Integrate technology
  • Implement accountability systems
  • Develop instruction
  • Advocate wellness

Successfully completing the requirements of the NCATE accreditation protocol strengthens the JSU COEHD unit in preparing its ideal educator- a caring and continually responsive educational professional who is ethically disposed and technically capable of implementing and supporting an accountable evidence-based equity pedagogy that is technologically enhanced and conducted with adaptive expertise.
